Resolved T)y the Senate {the House of Representatives concurring). S. That the Congress of the United States hereby extends to the Honor- Harry r e Truman. Cong ssional able H a r r y S. Truman its greetings, felicitations, and warm regards greetings. on the seventy-fifth anniversary of his birth, May 8, 1959. SEC. 2. The Congress expresses its admiration and gratitude to President Truman for his many years of distinguished service to the United States and to the world. As a public servant and man of the people in the highest sense, he has gained the respect of all as the •'Man of Independence". SEC. 3. The Congress expresses particular appreciation for his dedication as Senator, Vice President, President, and author and elder statesman, in the battle against the enemies of freedom. His great efforts in the years following World W a r II helped unite the free world in its resistance to the common aggressor. SEC. 4. The Congress expresses the hope that divine providence may permit Mr. Truman many more productive years of life and service to his country and to the world. SEC. 5. A copy of this resolution shall be transmitted to that distinguished citizen of Missouri, the Honorable Harry S. Truman. Agreed to April 14, 1959.

NORTH ATLANTIC TREATY PARLIAMENTARY CONFERENCE

Whereas United States delegates have attended each of the four North Atlantic Treaty Parliamentary Conferences which have been held in Paris; and Whereas the Fourth North Atlantic Treaty Parliamentary Conference, by resolution, expressed a wish to hold the next conference in Washington, District of Columbia: Therefore be it Resolved by the House of Representatives {the Senate concurring), That the Chairmen of the United States delegation to the North Atlantic Treaty Parliamentary Conference be requested to invite the North Atlantic Treaty Parliamentary Conference to hold its annual meeting for the year 1959 in Washington, District of Columbia. FLORIDA-QUADRICENTENNIAL ANNIVERSARY 1959-1965

Whereas the State of Florida proposes to celebrate the four hundredth anniversary of the permanent colonization of La Florida, the lands of which now, constitute an important part of the continental United States; and Whereas said period of colonization commenced on August 14, 1559, with the establishment of a colony at Pensacola, Florida, by Don Tristan De Luna, pursuant to the direct orders of the Spanish King, but such colony was later abandoned; and
