For salaries and expenses, studies and examinations of executive agencies, by the Committee on Appropriations, and temporary personal services for such committee, to be expended in accordance with section 202(b) of the Legislative Eeorganization Act, 1946, and to be available for reimbursement to agencies for services performed, $500,000, of which such amount as may be necessary may be transferred to the appropriation under this head for the fiscal year 1960.

For salaries and expenses of the Office of the Legislative Counsel of the House, $210,000. MEMBERS' CLERK HIRE
For clerk hire, necessarily employed by each Member in the discharge of his official and representative duties, $16,300,000. CONTINGENT EXPENSES or THE HOUSE FURNITURE
For furniture and materials for repairs of the same, including labor, tools, and machinery for furniture repair shops, and for the purchase of packing boxes, $231,800. MISCELLANEOUS ITEMS
For miscellaneous items, exclusive of salaries unless specifically ordered by the House of Representatives, including the sum of $35,000 for payment to the Architect of the Capitol in accordance with section 208 of the Act approved October 9, 1940 (Public Law 812); the exchange, operation, maintenance, and repair of the Clerk's motor vehicles; the exchange, operation, maintenance, and repair of the folding room motortruck; the exchange, maintenance, operation, and repair of the post office motor vehicles for carrying the mails; the sum of $600 for hire of automobile for the Sergeant at Arms; materials for folding; and for stationery for the use of committees, departments, and officers of the House; $2,450,000. REPORTING HEARINGS
For stenographic reports of hearings of committees other than special and select committees, $150,000.
