JOINT COMMITTEE ON REDUCTION OF NONESSENTIAL FEDERAL EXPENDITURES

For an amount to enable the Joint Committee on Reduction of Nonessential Federal Expenditures to carry out the duties imposed upon it by section 601 of the Revenue Act of 1941 (65 Stat. 726), to remain available during the existence of the committee, $26,790, to be disbursed by the Secretary of the Senate. For education of congressional pages and pages of the Supreme Court, pursuant to section 243 of the Legislative Reorganization Act, 1946, $68,365, which amount shall be advanced and credited to the applicable appropriation of the District of Columbia, and the Board of Education of the District of Columbia is hereby authorized to employ such personnel for the education of pages as may be required and to pay compensation for such services in accordance with such rates of compensation as the Board of Education may prescribe. STATEMENTS OF APPROPRIATIONS

For the preparation, under the direction of the Committees on Appropriations of the Senate and House of Representatives, of the statements for the second session of the Eighty-seventh Congress, showing appropriations made, indefinite appropriations, and contracts authorized^ together with a chronological history of the regular appropriation bills as required by law, $8,000, to be paid to the persons esignated by the chairmen of such committees to supervise the work.

ARCHITECT OF THE

CAPITOL

OFFICE OF THE ARCHITECT OF THE CAPITOL SALARIES

For the Architect of the Capitol, Assistant Architect of the Capitol, and Second Assistant Architect of the Capitol, at salary rates of $20,700, $19,000, and $17,500 per annum, respectively, and other personal services at rates of pay provided by law; and hereafter the Assistant Architect of the Capitol shall act as Architect of the Capitol during the absence or disability of that official or whenever there is no Architect, and, in case of the absence or disability of the Assistant Architect, the Second Assistant Architect of the Capitol shall so act; $363,000. Appropriations under the control of the Architect of the Capitol shall be available for expenses of travel on official business not to exceed in the aggregate under all funds the sum of $20,000. CONTINGENT EXPENSES

To enable the Architect of the Capitol to make surveys and studies and to meet unforeseen expenses in connection with activities under his care, $50,000.
