AN ACT Making appropriations for the Department of Housing and Urban Development; for space, science, veterans, and certain other independent executive agencies, boards, commissions, corporations, and offices for the fiscal year ending June 30, 1973, and for other purposes.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, That the following sums are appropriated, out of any money in the Treasury not otherwise appropriated, for the Department of Housing and Urban Development; for space, science, veterans, and certain other independent executive agencies, boards, commissions, corporations, and offices for the fiscal year ending June 30 1973, and for other purposes, namely: TITLE I

PROGRAM
The limitation otherwise applicable to the maximum payments that may be required in any fiscal year by all contracts entered into under section 101 of the Housing and Urban Development Act of 1965 (12 U.S.C. 1701s) is increased by $48,000,000: Provided, That no part of the foregoing contract authority shall be used for incurring any obligation in connection with any dwelling unit or project which is not either part of a workable program for community improvement meeting the requirements of section 101(c) of the Housing Act of 1949, as amended (42 U.S.C. 1451(c)), or which is without local official approval for participation in this program. ASSISTANCE
The limitation on total payments that may be required in any fiscal year by all contracts entered into under section 235 of the National ilousing Act, as amended (12 U.S.C. 17l5z), is increased by $170,000,000, and the limitation on total payments under those entered into under section 236 of such Act (12 U.S.C. The limitation otherwise applicable to the total payments that may be required in any fiscal year by all contracts entered into under title IV of the Housing Act of 1950, as amended (12 U.S.C. 1749 et seq.), is increased by $5,000,000.
