For an additional amount for "Offices of the Majority and Minority Leaders", $45,900: Provided, That, effective April 1, 1977, the Majority Leader and the Minority I^eader are each authorized to appoint and fix the compensation of such employees as they deem appropriate: Provided further, That the gross compensation paid to such employees shall not exceed $191,700 each fiscal year for each Leader: Provided further, That the positions established by the I^egislative Branch Appropriation Act, 1970, for the Offices of the Majority and Minority Leaders are abolished effective April 1, 1977. Effective April 1, 1977, the Majority Whip and t\\(^. Minority Whip are each authorized to appoint and fix the compensation of such employees as they deem appropriate: Provided further, That the gross compensation paid to such employees shall not exceed $111,100 each fiscal year for each Whip: Provided further. That the positions established by the Legislative Branch Appropriation Act, 1970 and the Legislative Branch Appropriation x\ct, 1976, for the Offices of the Majority and Minority Whips are abolished effective April 1, 1977.
