To amend the corporate name of AMVETS (American Veterans of World War II), and for other purposes.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled.^ That (a) the first section and sections 2, 8,17, 18, and 19 of the Act entitled "An Act to incorporate the AMVETS, American Veterans of World War II ", approved July 23, 1947 (61 Stat. 403-408; 36 U.S.C. 67-67s), are each amended by striking out "World War II) " wherever it appears and inserting in lieu thereof "World War II, Korea, and Vietnam)". (b) Such Act of July 23, 1947, is further amended— (1) by inserting immediately after "World War II " in section 3(2) the following: ", the Korean conflict, and the Vietnam era"; (2) by striking out "on or after September 16, 1940, and on or before the date of cessation of hostilities as determined by the Government of the United States," in the first sentence of section 6 and inserting in lieu thereof "at any time after September 15, 1940, and before May 8, 1975,"; and (3) by striking out the period after "World War II " in section 9 and inserting in lieu thereof ", the Korean conflict and the Vietnam era.". SEC. 2. The amendments made by the first section of this Act shall take effect on the first day of the second calendar month following the date of enactment of this Act. Approved August 15, 1977.
