NATIONAL SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA—CONCERTS ON THE CAPITOL GROUNDS

Whereas the National Symphony Orchestra has expressed a desire to perform free concerts on the United States Capitol Grounds for the entertainment of the citizenry of our Nation; and Whereas these performances would be similar to tiiose presently given by the service bands under authority of 40 U.S.C. 1931: Now, therefore, be it Resolved by the House of Representatives (the Senate concurrir^. That the National Park Service shall be permitted to sponsor a series of four National Symphony Orchestra concerts on the Capitol Grounds annually, such concerts to be free to the public and arranged not to interfere with the needs of Congress, under conditions to be provided by the Architect of the Capitol. For the purposes of this resolution, the National Park Service and the National Symphony Orchestra are authorized to erect upon the United States Capitol Grounds, subject to the approval of the Architect of the Capitol, such bandstand, sound amplification devices and other related structures and equipment as may be required for performance of the concert series. Agreed to May 21, 1981.
