First published in 1609, this transcription is of what is probably the first edition of the work. However, there is some doubt about whether this edition preceded or followed another version issued in the same year by a different printer.The work as printed has no explicit act or scene demarcations. For the purposes of this transcription it has been divided into five acts, each beginning with the entry of 'Gower' to deliver a short prologue.
