Prayer at entering School.

Lord!—lead my heart to learn,
    Prepare my ears to hear,
And let me useful knowledge seek
    In thy most holy fear.

Oh, make me kindly treat
    My dear companions, all,
Nor let me causeless anger feel,
    Nor in temptation fall.

If unforgiven sin
    Within my bosom lies,
Or evil motives linger there
    To offend thy perfect eyes—

Remove them far away.
    Inspire me with thy love,
That I may please thee here below.
    And dwell with thee above.
