I hear "link" in an early recording (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8bmMlVVO2OA&noredirect=1). Also, "link" makes more sense in this context, i.e., "I link a pretty girlie with each pretty tune that's played." Also, the word "link" is on the scanned page of sheet music presented with the lyrics.
