TODO[edit]
  • Figure out the relationship between the NT index page that was created, this page, and the commons page
  • Fill page template properly

Index scans[edit]

I've requested that the scans be renamed on Wikimedia Commons. Now we have the three volumes as such:

And these correspond to three Index pages:

@Beleg Tâl: technically OT1 is 1609 and OT2 is 1610. I don't know how much trouble it is, but could we rename them again? DavidPorter65 (talk) 23:26, 27 June 2016 (UTC)Reply

It's not a lot of trouble. I'll tell you how to do it if you want to go for it. There are two steps:
  1. First you must request that the file be moved on Commons. Go to commons:File:Bible (Douay Rheims OT1, 1582).djvu, click More > Move next to the search bar, and follow the instructions there.
  2. Second you must move the Index page. Go to Index:Bible (Douay Rheims OT1, 1609).djvu, click More > Move next to the search bar, and put in the new name.
  3. (Do this again with OT2)
Note that the Index page will move right away, but the File page won't because it has to wait for a Commons admin. For this reason the proofreading will be broken for a little while until they are all finished being moved. —Beleg Tâl (talk) 13:15, 28 June 2016 (UTC)Reply

@Beleg Tâl: @Beleg Tâl: (updated) Thank you for advice for renaming the OT2. I have another question. I want to change the scan on the Commons page. There is a better scan on archive.org I'd like to use. I'm not sure how to do that. Both ia-upload and url2commons say the file already exists. Which it does -- i want to overwrite it!. The wikimedia commons upload wizard doesn't allow files larger than 100mb. How do I do this. The better scan is at https://archive.org/details/holiebiblefaithf00mart (for OT2). At commons:File:Bible (Douay Rheims OT2, 1610).djvu there is a link that says "Upload a new version of this file" (under File History). This is where you can overwrite the file with a better scan. Note that the new version still needs to be under 100 MB. —Beleg Tâl (talk) 13:27, 17 August 2016 (UTC)Reply

@Beleg Tâl: Thanks for your advice. Unfortunately it is bigger than 100mb. So are there any other options for uploading a new version? DavidPorter65 (talk) 04:57, 18 August 2016 (UTC)Reply

Permission[edit]

For what it's worth, the owner of the scans, fatimamovement.com said it was ok to use them http://disq.us/p/19ji4t1 DavidPorter65 (talk) 23:24, 27 June 2016 (UTC)Reply

Furthermore, since this publication of the DRB was published before 1923, we would be well within our rights to use the scans even if the Fatima Movement were not okay with it. —Beleg Tâl (talk) 13:17, 28 June 2016 (UTC)Reply

EEBO transcription[edit]

FYI, there is already a transcription of this work online, offered through the Early English Books Online (EEBO) Text Creation Partnership (TCP):

It can also be downloaded at the Oxford Text Archive:

I can't vouch for its accuracy, but maybe this would be of some help to those creating the Wikisource edition? Frinkmeister (talk) 16:24, 19 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
