Brackets
[edit]Are the brackets in the original? During this period, "Taiwan" would have referred to the port of Taiwanfu (i.e., Dutch Zelandia or present-day Tainan) and not the entire island of Taiwandao (i.e., Formosa). Cf. also the discussion at "Formosa" in the 9th ed. of the Encyclopaedia Britannica, where they talk about how the British attempted to open Taiwanfu and then opted to switch to Tam-sui in the north. — LlywelynII 04:12, 12 March 2019 (UTC)
