Template talk:US CoA case info

This looks good for a start of a template, we are so backed up with the Supreme Court that I am not even worried about Circuit level yet. Just a couple of questions for the {{{circuit}}} part is that going to be numerical unless it is the DC circuit? Also I believe we are going to have to use the Federal Series to differentiate the cases since thier have been 3 series so far and they all start from the beginning each time. Also I think the Reheraing Deined part is not that important, what would be more important is adding authors part to this template for opinions of the court, dissents, concurrences, etc. Also working on the case name, not all cases go by the full name in the Federal Series reporter or even in the Supreme Court volumes for your example it would be Geller v. Randi and that would save a lot of room. I would like to see the templates kind of consistent across this field from the Supreme Court to the Circuits to where ever we go from there, just to make things easier and so Stephen, or who ever, can build a bot easily. • Sure, the "Rehearing Denied" bit can be left out. There is no specific field for each date, as these can presumably occur in different orders. So the fields are just "date1", "date2", etc.
• What do you mean "Case name"? This template doesn't care about the page name it used on - you just enter whatever you like in "side1", "side2". The FR fields are only used to create the link at the top. Of course, we should use whatever name is on the original document. it is not up to us to shorten the names of the parties in the actual document, though we can name the page whatever we like.
• Yes, the circuit is numerical, or "DC" or "FED". If you like I can make the "circuit" field into a "court_type" field, so you have "court_type = Appeals | subcourt = 8", as well as "court_type = Supreme". I can add as many types as you like!
• What authors? Where is this in the page? It can easily be added if I know where it is. i am not American, nor do I have a legal background, so my knowledge of these things is limited. I just want to help with formatting and bottability. Inductiveload—talk/contribs 06:55, 12 August 2010 (UTC)
