ACT OF CONSECRATION TO THE SACRED HEART OF JESUS.[1]

(BY BLESSED MARGARET MARY ALACOQUE.)

I N. N. give and consecrate myself to the Sacred Heart of our Lord Jesus Christ; I give to Him my person and my life, my actions, pains and sufferings, so that my entire being may be devoted to honor, love and glorify Him. My determination, taken forever, is to be and do all for love of Him, and to give up with all my heart everything that could displease Him.

I choose Thee therefore, O Sacred Heart, for the only object of my love, the protector of my life, the pledge of my salvation, the remedy against my malice and weakness, the repairer of the sins of my life, and my safe refuge at the hour of death. Be then, O Heart of Goodness, my justification before God the Father, and ward off from me the darts of His just wrath. O Heart of Love, in Thee I place my entire trust, I fear everything from my own malice and weakness, but I hope all from Thy goodness. Destroy, therefore, in me whatever may displease or resist Thee. Let Thy pure love penetrate so deep into my heart that I may never forget Thee or be separated from Thee. I implore Thee by Thy goodness, let my name be written in Thee, for my wish is to find my happiness and glory in living and dying as Thy slave. Amen.

  1. Leo XIII by rescript of June 1, 1897, grants 300 days of Indulgence to those reciting this act.
