Holland, Robert Erskine, B. A., I.C S. Political Agent and Consul at Muscat since 1908; b. London, 1873; s. of Prof. Holland, K.C.; m. Gwendoline, e.d. of Francis E. Crow, 1910; educ: Winchester, and Oriel Coll. Oxford; joined I.C.S., 1895; served as Assistant Collector and Magistrate; transferred to Bombay, 1900; served there for a short period, and was retransferred to Madras, 1902; Secretary, Board of Revenue, Madras, 1903; Foreign Department, Government of India Secretariat, 1904-8.
