Calcutta, 1839; o. surviving s. of late Maj-General Richard Home, of the Bengal Army; educ: Kensington Proprietory Grammar School, and at H.E.I.C. Military Seminary, Addiscombe; joined the Bengal Engineers, 1858, and landed in India, 1860; employed in the Irrigation Branch, of the P.W.D., 1861-94; Inspector General of Irrigation and Deputy Secretary to Government of India, P.W.D,, 1890-4; retired 1895.
