Sir George Herbert Murray, G.C.B.
Permanent Secretary to the Treasury since 1903; Private Secretary to Mr. Gladstone and Lord Rosebery during their Administrations; Chairman of the Board of Inland Revenue from 1897 to 1899; and Secretary to the Post Office from 1899 to 1903; created K.C.B. in 1899 and G.C.B. in 1908.
