At various times External Examiner in Geology in the Universities of Cambridge, London, Manchester, Glasgow, and New Zealand, and in Geography in the University of Oxford. Murchison Medal, Geological Society of London, 1909; President of the Geological Section, British Association, 1915; of the Geographical Association, 1919, and of the Irish Geographical Association, 1919-22. Has travelled extensively in Europe on cycling tours; also in S. Africa, Algeria and Tunisia, Canada, &c.; b. 21st Oct., 1859; 2nd son of J. J. Cole, Architect; m. 1895, Blanche, dau, of J. E. Vernon; one son.
