EPITAPH ON GENERAL GORDON.

For a Cenotaph.

 

Warrior of God, man's friend, not laid below,
 But somewhere dead far in the waste Soudan,
Thou livest in all hearts, for all men know
 This earth has borne no simpler, nobler man.
