2474 Buddhist Era



Phra Bat Somdet Phra Paramin Maha Prajadhipok Phra Pok Klao Chaoyuhua gives a great royal command by which He declares to all that, for general information, it be announced as follows:

Whereas He finds it appropriate to modify the provisions of certain sections of the Penal Code;

Therefore, He orders with His gracious pleasure that enacted shall be an Act containing the following sections:

Section1.This Act shall be called the "Act Amending the Penal Code, 2474 Buddhist Era".

Section2.This Act shall come into force from the day of its publication in the Royal Gazette onwards.

Section3.The provisions of section 241 of the Penal Code shall be repealed and replaced by the following stipulations:

Section241.Whoever, in order to fulfil the desire of another person, dares procure, lure away, or lead away for an indecent purpose a woman or girl aged under ten years, even with the consent of such woman or girl, shall, Lord says, be held guilty and be punished with imprisonment of not over three years and a fine of not over two thousand baht, regardless of whether or not the acts constituting his offence are committed in different countries.

Whoever, in order to fulfil the desire of another person, dares exercise a deceitful trick, or physical force, or threat, or undue influence, or other forcible means to procedure, lure away, or lead away a woman or girl for an indecent purpose shall, Lord says, be held guilty and be punished with imprisonment of not over five years and a fine of not over three thousand baht, regardless of whether or not the acts constituting his offence are committed in different countries."

Section4.The phrase "twelve years" in section 244, section 245, and section 246 of the Penal Code shall be modified to be "thirteen years".

Section5.The phrase "aged twelve years or more" in section 248 of the Penal Code shall be removed.

Section6.The phrase "fourteen years" in section 274 and section 275 of the Penal Code shall be modified to be "eighteen years".

Announced on the 14th day of April 2474 Buddhist Era, being the 7th year of the present reign.
