Amendment to
the Constitution of the Kingdom of Thailand (No. 1),
2535 Buddhist Era

Given on the 29th day of June 2535 BE
Being the 47th year of the present reign

Phra Bat Somdet Phra Paramin Maha Bhumibol Adulyadej gives a great royal command by which He orders with His pleasure that it be announced as follows:

Whereas it is appropriate to amend the Constitution of the Kingdom of Thailand;

Therefore, He orders with His gracious pleasure that the following Amendment to the Constitution of the Kingdom of Thailand be enacted:

Section1.This Constitution is called the "Amendment to the Constitution of the Kingdom of Thailand (No. 1), 2535 Buddhist Era".

​Section2.This Constitution shall come into force from the day following the day of its publication in the Royal Gazette onwards.

Section3.The stipulations of section 86 of the Constitution of the Kingdom of Thailand shall be repealed and replaced by the following stipulations:

"Section86.The President of the House of Representatives is the President of the National Assembly. The President of the Senate is the Vice President of the National Assembly.

In the case that there is no President of the House of Representatives or the President of the House of Representatives is absent or unable to perform the duties of the President of the National Assembly, the President of the Senate shall serve as the President of the National Assembly instead.

The President of the National Assembly has the powers and duties as provided in this Constitution and, in accordance with regulations, execute the affairs of the National Assembly when in joint session.

The Vice President of the National Assembly has the powers and duties as provided in this Constitution and as authorised by the President of the National Assembly."

Section4.The stipulations of section 157 of the Constitution of the Kingdom of Thailand shall be repealed and replaced by the following stipulations:

"Section157.At joint meetings of the National Assembly, the regulations of the National Assembly on the conduct of meetings shall apply. Whilst there is no regulation of the National Assembly on the conduct of meetings yet, the regulations of the House of Representatives on the conduct of meetings shall apply mutatis mutandis for the time being."

Section5.The stipulations of section 200 of the Constitution of the Kingdom of Thailand shall be repealed and replaced by the following stipulations:

"Section200.The Constitutional Tribunal is composed of the President of the National Assembly, ​the President of the Senate, the President of the Supreme Court of Justice, the Attorney General, and six more competent persons in the field of law or field of political science as appointed by the Senate and the House of Representatives, three from each chamber.

The President of the National Assembly is the President of the Constitutional Tribunal.

During the expiry of the term of the House of Representatives or dissolution of the House of Representatives, the ex officio Members of the Constitutional Tribunal under paragraph 1 shall be composed of the President of the Senate, the President of the Supreme Court of Justice, and the Attorney General. In such an event, the President of the Senate shall be the President of the Constitutional Tribunal."

​Note: The grounds for promulgation of this Amendment to the Constitution of the Kingdom of Thailand are as follows: Whereas it is appropriate to amend the Constitution of the Kingdom of Thailand in respect of the holder of the position of President of the National Assembly, the regulations of the National Assembly on the conduct of meetings, and the composition of the Constitutional Tribunal, so that it be more suitable; it is therefore necessary to enact this Constitution.
