Announcement of a State of Emergency
in the Area of Bangkok

Whereas it appears that groups of persons are carrying out activities which bring about disturbance and lead to unrest within the Country, and which will as well result in detriment to the public administration and the confidence in the economic system, thereby affecting public order and posing danger to the security of the State as well as the process of democratic development and the exercise of rights and freedoms by innocent people; therefore, there arises urgent necessity to resolve the said problems so that they shall end without delay.

By virtue of the power under the stipulations of section 5 of the Emergency Decree on Public Administration in State of Emergency, 2548 BE—a law containing certain provisions relating to the restriction of personal rights and freedoms, which section 29 together with section 32, section 33, section 34, section 36, section 38, section 41, section 43, section 45, and section 63 of the Constitution of the Kingdom of Thailand, permits to be done through the power under a legal provision—the Prime Minister hereby orders that a state of emergency be announced in the area of Bangkok.

This shall come into force henceforth.
