Requests Move pages or indexes

Sometimes you need to migrate pages from on index to another (e.g. when repairing or replacing a scan with a better copy), or integrating a section of a larger work into a complete scan.

I have a script to move pages between indexes (or with an offset within the same index): User:Inductiveload/Scripts/Page shifter.py. Anyone can run this script, but only admins and bots can suppress redirects and have it work properly.

If you would like me to move pages for you, I will need the following:

Moving pages between indexes[edit]

  • The source index page name
  • The destination index page name
  • The page offset (e.g. if page 1 on the old index becomes page 3, the offset is 2). This can be 0 or negative.
  • The pages to move, in the format "1-10,14,15". It's OK if the range includes missing pages.
  • The reason, e.g. "moving to a scan without missing pages" or "moving to a complete scan for the volume"

Usually the source index page will be deleted to avoid people accidentally wasting time by proofreading duplicated pages.

Moving pages within the same index[edit]

  • The index page name
  • The page offset (e.g. if page 1 on the old index becomes page 3, the offset is 2). This can be negative. For example, if you have removed a Google Books cover page, it's probably "-1".
  • The pages to move, in the format "1-10,14,15". It's OK if the range includes missing pages.
  • The reason, e.g. "inserted missing pages" or "removed scan cover sheet".
