[edit] Thanks
Do you know if League of Nations documents are public domain? I assume they are. See also The Locarno Pact 1925.
Thanks,
John

[edit] TEMPLATE work
[edit] Referring to templates
Sorry to play in your sandbox, but I just fixed the way you're supposed to refer to templates.--Poetlister 18:23, 16 February 2008 (UTC)
[edit] UK
I agree it's not as clear as the Canadian one, but as long as the phrase "Crown Copyright material is reproduced with the permission of the Controller of HMSO and the Queen’s Printer for Scotland"" means that permission is inherent and doesn't have to be requested, then I think we're good to draft a template to allow such works. [edit] Regulations Act
Do you have any suggestions on what the "Regulations Act" in The Ballad of Reading Gaol#III might be referring to? John Vandenberg (chat) 03:06, 23 February 2008 (UTC)
- Thank you! That act certainly seems appropriate, and enacted recently at the time of the poem making it quite likely that a governor would be "strong upon" it (or being seen to follow the Queens orders), and Wilde would have seen the poem as a opportunity to critique the application and effect of a new law. Even if it is not the Act, it is very relevant. John Vandenberg (chat) 16:33, 23 February 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Rudyard Kipling: The Recall

[edit] The Survival
Was The Survival published before 1923? If not, {{PD-1923}} isnt appropriate? John Vandenberg (chat) 05:41, 5 March 2008 (UTC)
- In order to be PD in the US, we need to find the first printing of this work. If it was first published in "Debits and Credits", as it appears here, then it could be copyright in the US due to Renewal R117669. If it was first published prior to 1926 (e.g. in a magazine), it will have slipped into the PD before the copyright on the book was renewed. John Vandenberg (chat) 10:12, 5 March 2008 (UTC)
- I wasnt able to find it within Index:Q Horati Flacci Carminum librum quintum.djvu. p.11 says "THE ODES OF HORACE / BOOK FIVE", but it only goes up to XIII, so "Ode 22" doesnt appear there. In that context, this appears to be saying that there were four more in addition to those in the covers of the 1920 book. Perhaps this "book five" is carried over from the volume of that name into "Debits and Credits". John Vandenberg (chat) 09:27, 6 March 2008 (UTC)
- I understand Although there was no enlarged edition of " Book Five," Kipling wrote four more odes purporting to be translations from it. These are ... all of which appeared in Debits and Credits in 1926, and were later included in all editions of " Collected Verse." to mean that there is only known to be the edition of Book Five which contains I - XIII. i.e. there is no known edition of that work which includes Ode 17, 20, 22 & 31; as a result those Odes may have they first appeared in "Debits and Credits". John Vandenberg (chat) 00:50, 7 March 2008 (UTC)
- This agrees that it was first published in Debits and Credits as an introduction to the story “The Janeites” and the "Janeites" page on that site agrees that the poem was added to the story in 1926, and didnt appear with the 1924 editions[1]. I will be very annoyed if "Janeites" turns out to be PD due to earlier printings, but a minor element like The Survival isnt PD. John Vandenberg (chat) 01:20, 7 March 2008 (UTC)
- Please list it on WS:COPYVIO so that others can comment on it. John Vandenberg (chat) 22:57, 16 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Little request
- Notice modeled after [2]
As Template:New texts is monitored in IRC, and many users have it in their Watchlists, I was wondering whether you would consider adding the name of the text being added to the edit summary, rather than solely +1,-1. Even if it is just have +Name of work, -1 that would be most helpful. Thanks. -- Cirt (talk) 04:29, 21 March 2010 (UTC)
