AN ACT

To revive and continue the Act, entitled, "An Act to incorporate the German Society in the City of New York," passed April 6th, 1804.

Whereas, the Act to incorporate the German Society of the City of New York for charitable purposes, passed April 6th, 1804, expires by its own limitation, on the first Monday in April, one thousand eight hundred and twenty-five, and the members of the German Society of the City of New York, having petitioned the Legislature to incorporate the said Society permanently, for the laudable purpose of continuing to assist German emigrants, and to afford relief to distressed Germans and their descendants:

Therefore, be it enacted by the People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assembly, That George Arcularius, Martin Hoffmann, F. C. Schaeffer, Theodore Meyer, J. W. Schmidt, Jacob Lorillard, J. P. Groshon, Anthony Steenback, F. W. Geissenhainer, George Meyer, and Philipp Hone, and such other persons as on the third day of April, one thousand eight hundred and twenty-five, may be, or from time to time become members, shall be, and hereby are constituted a body corporate and politic forever hereafter, by the name of "The German Society of the City of New York," and that, by that name, they shall have perpetual succession, and shall be persons capable of suing and being sued, pleading and being impleaded, answering and being answered unto, defending and being defended, in all courts and places whatsoever, and all manner of action and actions, suits, com-
