CASTLE OF MONT ORGUEIL.

Built on the summit of a rock on the east coast of Jersey, the Castle of Mont Orgueil not only gives a beautiful view of the scenery of the island, but also commands an extensive sea-view, reaching on a clear day as far as the French coast. Looking in the latter direction, the spectator, at or near low-water, sees innumerable rocky islets scattered on every side. Many of these are covered at ordinary tides, and most of them at the periods when the tides are highest, which on
