סדר ליל יום הכפורים |
619:1[edit]On the night of Yom Kippur, the practice is for the prayer leader to say "In the convocation of Above and in the convocation of below. With permission of the Omnipresent and permission of the community, we are permitted to pray with the sinners." The practice is to then say "Kol nidrei..." and then Shehecheyanu without a cup [of wine]. Rem"a: Afterwards, we pray Arvit. The practice is to say Kol Nidrei while it is still day, continuing with melodies until it is night. We say it three times, each time louder than the previous (Mahari"l). The prayer leader says "And the whole nation was forgiven..." three times, and the community says "And God said 'I have forgiven them as you have said'" three times (Minhagim). Nobody should change the practice of the town, even with respect to melodies and piyyutim that they say there (Mahari"l). |
סעיף א ליל יום הכפורים נוהגים שאומר שליח צבור בישיבה של מעלה ובישיבה של מטה ע"ד המקום ועל דעת הקהל אנו מתירים להתפלל עם העבריינים ונוהגים שאומר כל נדרי וכו' ואח"כ אומר שהחיינו בלא כוס: הגה ואח"כ מתפללים ערבית ונוהגים לומר כל נדרי בעודו יום וממשיך בניגונים עד הלילה ואומרים אותו שלשה פעמים וכל פעם מגביה קולו יותר מבראשונה (מהרי"ל) וכן אומר הש"צ ג"פ ונסלח לכל עדת וגו' והקהל אומרים ג' פעמים ויאמר הת סלחתי כדבריך (מנהגים) ואל ישנה אדם ממנהג העיר אפילו בניגונים או בפיוטים שאומרים שם (מהרי"ל): |
619:2[edit]On the night of Yom Kippur and the following day, we say "Blessed is the Name of the glory of His kingdom forever" out loud. |
סעיף ב בליל יום הכפורים ומחרתו אומרים ברוך שם כבוד מלכותו לעולם ועד בקול רם: |
619:3[edit]If it falls on Shabbat, we say "And [the earth] was finished" and the seven-fold blessing, finishing with "who sanctifies the Shabbat" and not mentioning Yom Kippur. (And we don't say Avenu Malkenu on Shabbat but the rest of the selichot and supplications we say just like on weekdays (Rivas"h 512 and Minhagim).) |

619:5[edit]There are those who stand on their feet the whole day and whole night. |
סעיף ה יש שעומדים על רגליהם כל היום וכל הלילה: |
619:6[edit]The custom is to sleep in the synagogue and say songs and praises all night. Rem"a: It is good to sleep far from the Ark (Mordechai). Anybody who does not want to say praises and songs should not sleep there (Mahari"v). The hazzans and prayer leaders for the day should not stay up all night because they will lose their voices if they do not sleep (Mahari"l). |
סעיף ו נוהגים ללון בבהכנ"ס ולומר שירות ותשבחות כל הלילה: הגה וטוב לישן רחוק מן הארון (מרדכי) ומי שאינו רוצה לומר תשבחות ושירות לא יישן שם (מהרי"ו) והחזנים המתפללים כל היום לא יעירו כל הלילה כי מאבדין קולם כשאינם ישנים (מהרי"ל): |
