Seif 1 - It is a positive commandment for a man to teach Torah to his son. If a man’s father did not teach him, then he is required to teach himself.

Seif 5 - From when does a man begin to teach is son? From the time the boy begins to speak, the father begins to teach him (the verse) “Moses commanded us the Torah,” and the first verse of the Shema. Afterwards he teaches him slowly until he is six or seven and then takes him to a teacher of young children.

Seif 8 - We bring in children to be educated when they have reached five complete years, but not any earlier than this. If the child is weak, we introduce him to the Torah after six full years. HAGAH – In any case, as soon as he reaches three full years, we teach him the letters of the Torah so that he wil get used to reading the Torah.

Seif 14 - You do not teach a child something for the first time on Shabbat because this would be great effort on Shabbat; however, you review with him something that he has already read once.
