Leo Joseph Ryan (1925–1978)

See biography, media, quotes, indexes. United States Representative from the 11th Congressional District of California. Murdered at Jonestown, Guyana on November 18, 1978 by members of Peoples Temple. First member of United States Congress to die in the line of duty. Received the Congressional Gold Medal posthumously in 1983.
