The term UK would not be applicable as at the time it was not used. The full title at the time would have been “The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland.” Ireland still being a distinct geographical area.
John Mitchel did not write poetry, he edited a book of poetry by C. Mangan and Thomas Davis though. --Domer48 12:37, 22 July 2007 (UTC)
