| John Mitchel (Irish: Seán Mistéil; b.November 3, 1815 – d. March 20, 1875) was an Irish nationalist activist, solicitor and political journalist. Born in Dungiven, County Derry, Ireland he became a leading Member of both Young Ireland and the Irish Confederation. Elected to the British House of Commons,1875, only to be disqualified because he was a convicted felon. His Jail Journal [1] is one of his most famous books. |
