Birth and death dates[edit]

Wikipedia and other sources show him born 1853 - is there a better source that shows 1851 ?

Wikipedia doesn't mention a death date, but several sources show a novel Blood: A Tragic Tale as published 1888 (though it could have been posthumous. This source cliams that he was still living in 1896 - http://www.victorianresearch.org/atcl/show_author.php?aid=2761
