what we experienced, the beginning or middle of January is full early to expect good weather, for cruiſing, or fiſhing. To the Southward of Cape Corientes, and to the Northward of it Cape St. Lucas, the lightning, thunder and heavy rains had not ſubſided the beginning of November; and had not my crew been rather in a ſtate of convaleſcence, I would have returned to the Northward for better weather. The Spaniards themſelves never leave the Port of Saint Blas for Acapulco, till the latter end of November, when the North winds ſet in and blow ſteadily.
