1805 Henry BaTHDEST, LL.D., was nominated to Norwich 5Ge0.Hl. 5 th March 1805, and elected 18th March; the royal assent to his election was given on the 2ist of that month. He was confirmed 27th April, and conse- crated the next day. The temporalities were restored to him 2nd May. He died in 1837. 1837 Edward Stanley, D.D., was nominated 14th April Will. IV. a nd elected 29th April 1837; the royal assent to his election was given 17th May. He was confirmed yth June, consecrated rith June, and the temporalities Were restored to him 28th June. He died 6th Sept.

1849, ;ct - 7- 1849 Samuel Hinds, the present holder of the see, was kVictoria. nominated 26th Sept. 1849, and elected 23rd Oct. ; the royal assent to his election was given 25th Oct. 46 He was confirmed 13th Nov., and consecrated 2nd Dec. The temporalities were restored to him 9th Jan. 1850.

This bishopric is rated for first fruits at 834/. 1 is. 7^- 47

William Castleton, the last prior, was made the first dean of the cathedral church of Norwich by the charter of king Henry VIII. who new-founded the said church, bearing date 2nd May 1538.

John Salisbury, suffragan bishop o/Thetford, was made dean on the resignation of William Castleton in 1539. He was deprived in the beginning of queen Mary's reign, ist March 15534.
