Native Name:—Maire-Hau.

One of the most charming little shrubs in the New Zealand Flora. It is usually from 6 to 12 ft. in height, and has a singularly neat and graceful habit of growth. The flowers are white, or white tinged with pink, and are arranged in many-flowered corymbs terminating the branches. Both foliage and flowers have a strong, but pleasant, aromatic smell, and would probably yield an essential oil valuable for perfumery purposes. It is confined to the northern portions of the Auckland Provincial District. (Cheeseman). It flowers in November. Whangarei.
