DINNER HONORNING DUKE ELLINGTON

THE WHITE HOUSE

TUESDAY, APRIL 29, 1969


THE PRESIDENT:


At 7:50 p.m. Duke Ellington and his sister, Miss Ruth Ellington and The Vice President and Mrs. Agnew will be ecorted to the Yelow Oval Room to join you and the First Lady for approximately 15 minutes.


The The Vice President and Mrs. Agnew will be escorted first and then at 8:05 p.m. you and Mrs. Nixon followed by the Ellingtons will be escorted from the Family Quarters. You will descend the Grand Staircase pausing two steps from the lower landing. The Ellingtons will join you on this step for a brief photo session.


Your dinner guests numbering about 90 will be assembled in the East Room where mixed drinks and champagne will be served.


The dress is black tie with long dresses for the ladies.


After the photographs you will proceed to the carpet in the Grand Hall and pause facing the East Room. Ruffles and Flourishes will be played by the Marine Band and you and your party will be announced. As "Hail to the Chief" is played you will move into the East Room and to your right forming a receiving line in front of the prepositiond Color Guard facing the east wall.
