' Seamen, and others imployed in any Ships or VefTels belonging to any of his Majefty's Subjefts of Great ' Britain and Ireland, and the Dominions thereunto belonging, to the great Lofs and Prejudice of the faid ' Hofpital :' For Remedy whereof, be it enafted by the King's moll Excellent Majefty, by and with the Advice and Confent of the Lords Spiritual and Temporal, and Commons, in this prefent Parliament afTem- bled, and by the Authority of the fame, That the faid feveral Afts heretofore made concerning the faid TheDutyof6d. Duty of fix Pence per Menfem, and every Claufe, Penalty, Power and Thing therein contained, and not per Menfem for altered by this prefent Aft, fhall extend, and from henceforth be conftrued, adjudged, deemed, and taken PiuTtTbe "id t0 extend > to a11 Sh »P s and VefTels belonging to any of the Subjefts of his Majefty, his Heirs and Succeflbrs, by all VefTels ' within the faid Iflands of Jerfey, Guernfey, Alderney, Sark and Man, and every of them refpeftively, and belongingto within all and every his Majefty's Colonies, Iflands and Dominions in America, as well as to thofe within Jerfey, Guern- Great Britain and Ireland; and that from henceforth every Seaman, and other Perfon whatfoever, that fhall fey, &c. ferve or be imployed in any Ships or VefTels belonging, or that fhall belong, to any of the Subjefts of his Majefty, his Heirs or Succeflbrs, within the faid Iflands of Guernfey, Jerfey, Alderney, Sark or Man, or any of them refpeftively, or within any of his Majefty's Colonies, Iflands or Dominions in America, and every Mafter or Owner working his own Ship or Veflel, whether the fame be imployed upon the High Sea or in any Exceptions. Port, Harbour, Bay or Creek; other than fuch Apprentices under the Age of eighteen Years, as are ex- empted from Payment of fix Pence per Menfe?n, by an Aft made in the fecond Year of the Reign of her a Ann, c. 6. f a jd ] a te Majefty Queen Anne, and fuch Perfon or Perfons as fhall be imployed in any Boat upon any the Coafts of the faid Iflands, Colonies or Dominions refpeftively, in taking Fifh, which are brought fiefh on Shore, to be confumed in the faid Iflands, Colonies or Dominions refpeftively, and every Perfon and Per- fons imployed i-n Boats or VefTels, that trade only from Place, to Place within any River of the faid Iflands, Colonies or Dominions refpeftively, or in any open Boats upon the Coafts of the fame; fhall pay, and there fhall be allowed and paid by every fuch Mafter, Owner, Seaman or other Perfon imployed, or that fhall be imployed as aforefaid (except fuch Perfons as are herein before excepted) the faid Duty of fix Pence per. Menfem, of lawful Money of Great Britain, or the Value thereof in the Money of the faid Iflands, Colo- nies or Dominions refpeftively, and proportionably for a fhorter Time than a Month, during the Time he or they fhall be imployed in, or belong to any fuch Ship or VefTel, for the better Support of the faid Hofpi- tal, and to augment the Revenues thereof, for the Purpofes in the faid feveral recited Afts mentioned; which faid Duty (hall be paid by the Mafters, Commanders and Owners of all and every fuch Ships and VefTels refpeftively, who are hereby authorized, impowered and required to deduft and detain the fame out of the Wages, Shares or other Profits payable or accruing to every Seaman or other Perfon imployed in any. fuch Ship or Veflel, and liable to the Payment of the faid Duty, if fuch Seaman or other Perfon fhall have or be intitled to any fuch Wages, Shares or Profits. Perfon or Perfons, who is, are or fhall be appointed Receiver or Receivers of the faid Duty, by virtue and in purfuance of the faid Aft of the tenth of Queen Anne, to depute and appoint any Officer or Officers of the Cuftoms of his Majefty, his Heirs or Succeflbrs, in the feveral Ports of the faid Iflands, Colonies and Dominions refpeftively, or fuch other Perfon or Perfons, as he or they fhall think fit, to colleft the fame; which faid Colleftors, fo to be appointed, are hereby authorized and required to colleft the faid Duty of fix Pence per Menfem in the feveral Ports of the faid Iflands of Guernfey, Jerfey, Alderney, Sark and Man, and of every of them refpeftively, and alfo in the Ports of all and every his Majefty's Colonies, Iflands and Dominions in America, according to fuch Inftruftions as fhall from Time to Time be fent to them in Wri- ting by fuch Receiver or Receivers; and for the faid Colleftors Care and Pains therein, it fhall and may be lawful for the Lord High Admiral of Great Britain, or the Commiffioners for executing the faid Office of Lord High Admiral of Great Britain, for the Time being, to make fuch Allowances to them out of the faid Duty, as he or they fhall judge reafonable. Commanders and Owners of Ships and VefTels belonging to the Subjefts of
