Suryanarayana Sastri.

Suryanarayana Sastri, Balajapilli, B.A., B.L., Pleader and Public Prosecutor, Vizagapatam, since 1894; b. 1864; s. of Mr. Ramakrishna Sastri; educ: High School, Chicacole; Maharaja’s College, Vizagapatam, and the Presidency College, Madras; Municipal Councillor, Vizagapatam, since 1894; was Chairnian of the Municipality, 1894-97; Honorary Secretary, Vizagapatam Bar Library, 1895; Honorary . Secretary, Vizagpatam Club, since 1904. Address: Vizagapatam, Madras Presidency.

Suresh Chendra Singh, M.A., Rai Bahadur, Deputy Collector and Magistrate, Dacca; b. 1867; educ: Presidency College, Calcutta; entered service as Professor of Science in the General Assembly’s College, Calcutta, 1887: entered Government service and became Deputy Collector, 1910; has been closely connected with the work of the Eastern Bengal Saraswat Samaj which has confirmed on him the title of ‘Vidyarnad’; has also been connected with his cousin Rai Kailash Chendra Singh in his research work. Publications: an annotated edition of ‘Bhagvat Gita’ and some old Srutis. Address: Hatkhola, Ramna, P.O. Dacca, India.

Susang, Raja of; Kumud Chandra Sing, B.A.; b. 1867; educ: Presidency College, Calcutta; succeeded, 1890; the family had held dominion over Susang and the adjoining wild country from a remote period; some of the members of the family bore the title of Malik; they were paying (Agar) tribute to the Emperors of Delhi, but Aurangzib converted it into a cash payment; the title of ‘Maharaja’ conferred on the father of the present ruler was made hereditary, 1884. Sutherland; educ: Westminster; President, Bengal Chamber of Commerce, 1900-01; Sheriff of Calcutta, 1901 and 1908: Member, Bengal Legislative Council, 1900-02; and again 1907-08; Trustee, Indian Museum, 1903; Commissioner, Port of Calcutta,. 1903-04, and 1907; Director, Bank of Bengal.
