IN C LU SI O NO FMAJ O R SU BP RO G RAMS T O MAJOR D EFENSE AC Q UISITION PROGRAMS UNDER ACQUISITION REPORTING REQUIREMENTS. (a) A UTHORI T Y TOD ES I GNA TE MA J OR SU BP ROGRA M S AS SUBJE C T TO AC Q UISITION R EPORTING REQUIREMENTS.— (1) IN GENERA L .—Chapter 1 4 4 of title 10, U nited States Code, is amended by inserting after section 24 3 0 the following new section: ‘ ‘ §2430a.M a jorsubp ro g ra m s ‘‘(a) AUTHORITY TO DESIGNATE MAJOR SUBPROGRAMS AS SUB- JECT TO ACQUISITION REPORTING REQUIREMENTS.—(1) If the Sec- retary of Defense determines that a ma j or defense ac q uisition pro- gram requires the delivery of two or more categories of end items which differ significantly from each other in form and function, the Secretary may designate each such category of end items as a major subprogram for the purposes of acquisition reporting under this chapter. ‘‘(2) The Secretary shall notify the congressional defense committees in writing of any proposed designation pursuant to paragraph (1) not less than 30 days before the date such designation takes effect. ‘‘(b) REPORTING REQUIREMENTS.—If the Secretary designates a major subprogram of a major defense acquisition program in accordance with subsection (a), Selected Acquisition Reports, unit cost reports, and program baselines under this chapter shall reflect cost, schedule, and performance information— ‘‘(1) for the major defense acquisition program as a whole; and ‘‘(2) for each major subprogram of the major defense acquisition program so designated. ‘‘(c) REQUIREMENT TO CO V ER ENTIRE MAJOR DE F ENSE ACQUISI- TION P ROGRAM.—If a subprogram of a major defense acquisition program is designated as a major subprogram under subsection Notif i ca tio n.De a dl ine.
