Corrmenr DEPARTMENT: For the following under the direction of m§{?*"’¤’*‘ "°P“'*· the Librarian of Congress, necessary for the execution of the copyright. law, namely: Register of copyrights, three thousand dollars, who shall, R°g“‘*°"· on and after July first, eighteen hundred and ninety-seven, under the direction and supervision of the Librarian of Congress, perform all _ the dutie relating to copyrights, and shall make weekly deposits with D““°“‘ the Secretary of the Treasury, and make monthly reports to the Secretary of the Treasury and to the Librarian of Congress, and shall, on and after July iirst, eighteen hundred and ninety-seven, give bond to B°”d· the Librarian of Congress, in the sum of twenty thousand dollars, with approved sureties, for the faithful discharge of his duties; two clerks, ¤1¤rk¤- at one thousand eight hundred dollars each; two clerks, at one thousand six hundred dollars each; three clerks, at one thousand four hundred dollars each; ten clerks, at one thousand two hundred dollars each; ten clerks, at nine hundred dollars each; two clerks, at seven hundred and twenty dollars each; in all, thirty-six thou and four hundred and forty dollars. For purchase of books for the Library, four thousand dollars; for ,,E“"°h°“ °f l’°°"'· purchase of law books for the Library, under the direction of the Chief Justice, one thousand ilve hundred dollars; for purchase of new books of reference for the Supreme Court, to be a part of the Library of Congress and purchased by `the marshal of the Supreme Court, under the ‘ direction of the Chief Justice, one thousand nve hundred dollars; for expenses of exchanging public documents for the publications of foreign Governments, one thousand five hundred dollars; for purchase of iles of periodicals, serials, and newspapers, two thousand five hundred dollars; in all, eleven thousand dollars.
