Rest rict ion o n mi nors SEC . 2. No minor under eighteen yea rs of age sha ll be employed , und er 18 , of hours of permitted, or suffered to work in, about, or in connection with any gainful occupation, except in agricultural work, or housework, or in the distribution or sale of newspapers, as specified in section 1of this Act, and except in newspapers stuffing, subject to the provisions of section 17 of this Act, more than six consecutive days in any one week, or more than forty-eight hours in any one week, or more than eight hours in any one day, nor shall any girl under eighteen years of age or boy under sixteen years of age be so employed, permitted, or suffered to work before the hour of seven o'clock in the morning or after the hour of seve n o'clock in the evening of any day, nor shall any b oy bet ween sixtee n and eighte en ye ars of age be so employed before the hour of six o'clock in the morning or after the hour of ten o'clock in the evening of any day . Every employer shall poRsted ain o est blish- post and keep conspicuously posted in the establishment, in or about menu by employers . which any minor is employed, permitted, or suffered to work, a printed notice, furnished by the official authorized to enforce this Act, setting forth the le gal regulatio ns governing t he employment and hours of work of minors and occupations prohibited to minors List of minors em- in such establishments, and, in addition, shall keep accessible in the ployed, ti me record, place of em ployme nt a list o f mino rs und er ei ghteen employed, etc . permitted, or suffered to work, and an accurate time record showing the hours of beginning and ending work each day and the hours when the time allowed for meals begins and ends for said minors . The presence of any such minor in the place of work for a longer tioceiaenee of viola- time in the day or week than stated in the printed regulation hours shall be prima facie evidence of a violation of the provisions of this section . SEC . 3. No minor shall be employed, permitted, or suffered to work dangerous Work in to ny place health, in an y place of employment, or at any employment, dangerous or forbidden . prejudicial to the life, health, safety or welfare of such minor . It be issued . shall be the duty of the Board of Education of the District of Columbia, and the said boar d shall have power, jurisdi ction, and authority, after hearing duly held, to issue general or special orders prohibiting th e employment of such minor s in any emplo yment or at any place of employment dangerous or prejudicial to the life, health, Proviso . safety, or wel fare of such minors : Prov ided, That no such order Emplo ymen ts s peci- shall permit the employment of any minor at any employment fle d . specified in sections 4 to 7 of this Act at a lower age than the age therein specified . Occupations forbid- SEC . 4. No minor under sixteen years of age shall be employed, den minors under 16. permitted, or suffered to work at any of the following occupations (1) In the operation of any machinery operated by power other than hand or foot power ; or (2) in oiling, wiping, or cleaning machinery or assisting therein . SEC . 5. No mi nor under eig hteen years of age shall be employed, Under 18. permitted, or suffered to work (1) at operating any freight or pas- senger elevator, or (2) in any quarry, tunnel, or excavation, or (3) in any tobacco warehouse or cigar or other factory or place where Girls under 18 . tobacco is manufactured or prepared . No girl under the age of eighteen years shall be emp loyed, permit ted, or suffer ed to w or k in any retail cigar o r toba cco sto re, or in any hotel or for any ap art- ment house, or as an usher, attendant, or ticket seller in any theater or place of amusement, or as a messenger in the distribution or delivery of goods or messages for any person, firm, or corporation engaged in the business of transmitting or delivering messages .
