Fo rest p athol ogy : For th e invest igation of disea ses of f orest an d orn ame nt al tr ees and sh rub s, including a study of the nature and habits of the parasitic fungi causing the chestnut-tree bark disease, the white-pine blister rust, and other epidemic tree diseases, for the purpose of discovering new methods of control and applying methods of eradication or control already discovered, $150,000 . Bliste r rust control : For applying such methods of eradication or contro l of the w hite-p ine b liste r rust as in the judgm ent o f the Secretary of Agriculture may be necessary, including the payment of such expenses and the employment of such persons and means in the city of Washington and elsewhere, in cooperation with such author- ities of the States concerned, organizations, or individuals as he may deem necessary to accomplish such purposes, and in the discretion of the Secretary of Agriculture no expenditures shall be made for these purposes until a sum or sums at least equal to such expenditures shall have been appropriated, subscribed, or contributed by States, county or local authorities, or by individuals or organizations for the accomplishment of such purposes, $445,020 : P rovide d, That no part of this appropriation shall be used to pay the cost or value of trees or other property injured or destroyed . Vegetable and forage diseases : For the investigation of diseases of cot ton, potat oes, t ruck crops , fora ge cr ops, drug a nd re lated plants, $200,500 . Crop physiology : For investigating the physiology of crop plants and for testing and breeding varieties thereof, $90,160 . For plant-nutrition investigations, $16,780 . Cotton, rubber, and other tropical plants : For acclimatization and adaptation investigations of cotton, corn, and other crops introduced from tropical regions, and for the improvement of cotton and other fiber plants by cultural methods, breeding, and selection, and for det erm in ing the feasibility of increasing the production of har d fibers outside of the continental United States, $255,800 : Provid ed, That not more than $7,500 of this sum may be used for experiments in cottonseed interbreeding : Provided further, That of th is sum $105,000 may be used for explorations, research, and field experiments relating to potential rubber-producing plants . Drug and other plants : For the investigation, testing, and imp rov em ent of plants yielding drugs, sp ice s, poisons, oil s, and related products and by-products and for general physiological and fermentation investigations, $58,200 . Nematology : For crop technolo gical in vestigat ions, in cluding the study of plant-infesting nematodes, $54,340 . Se ed laboratory : For studying and testing commercial seeds, includ- ing the testing of samples of seeds of grasses, clover, or alfalfa, and lawn-grass seeds secured in the open market, and where such samples are found to be adulterated or misbranded the results of the tests s hall be publ ishe d, t oget her with the nam es of the pe rson s by whom the seeds were offered for sale, and for carrying out the provisions of the Act approved August 24, 1912, ent it led "An Act to regulate foreign commerce by prohibiting the admission into the Unite d States of certain adulter ated grain and seeds unfit for s eeding purp oses " (Th irty- sevent h Sta tutes at La rge, page 506), $74,000 : P rovide d, That not to exceed $250 of this amount may be used for meeting the share of the United States in the expenses of the Inter natio nal Se ed Te sting Congr ess i n car rying out p lans for correlating the wo rk of the various adhering governments on
