Snrurx I. *1 May 13, [826, Cr-np. XLIV.-dn Act remitttng the duties upon certain articles imported for the `——-—·—-— use of the University of Wrginia. Be it enacted, dw., That the duties arising upon certain cases of Dune, gn im. marble capitals imported into the port of Boston, in the brig Tamworth, P¤¤‘§¤d marble and there entered in the year eighteen hundred and twenty-five, for the gggygexgded use of the University of Virginia, be, and the same are hereby, remitted, i and the bond or bonds taken therefor, directed to be cancelled; and that the sum of three hundred and ninety-four dollars and thirty-two cents, being the amount of duties paid by Thomas Jefferson, Rector of the said University, on thirty-one cases of marble bases imported into New York, in the ship Caroline, for the use of the said University, be, and the same is hereby, refunded, and authorized to be paid to said Thomas J eiferson, out of any money in the treasury not otherwise appropriated. Bc it enacted, rfc., That Moses Kenney, or his legal representative, Authqyizedto shall be, and hereby is, authorized to change the location of survey, Qh¤¤8¤¢h¤l¤¢¤· number three hundred and ninety-nine, founded upon a Spanish cont"" °f"°"°Y’ cession in Upper Louisiana, for three hundred and fifty arpens of land, equal to two hundred and ninety-seven acres, and seventy-four hundredths, so as to make the survey conformable to the true location; and if the land, or any part thereof, which would be included in such true location, shall have been sold, or otherwise disposed oi then the said Moses Kenney may locate the said quantity of two hundred and ninety- seven acres, and seventy-four hundredths, in parcels, conformable [to] sectional divisions and subdivisions, upon any lands belonging to the United States, and liable to be sold at private sale; and it, after locating part of said quantity, there should remain a fractional excess, not equal to the smallest subdivision of a section, then the party interested may enter for such part, and pay for the remainder with ready money.
