Private Law 85-346 AN ACT For the relief of Mrs. Madeleine A. Work.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, That the Secretary of the Treasury be and he hereby is authorized and directed to pay, out of any money in the Treasury not otherwise appropriated, the sum of $4,675.60 to Mrs. Madeleine Work of 19 Rue de Grenoble, Evreux, France. Such sum represents the amount of death benefits to which the said Mrs. Work would have been entitled from the date of the death of her husband, Captain John L. Work, who died on December 17, 1948, if claim for such death benefits had been filed with the Veterans' Administration within one year after the death of her husband: Provided, That no part of the amount appropriated in this Act in excess of ten per centum thereof shall be paid or delivered to or received by any agent or attorney on account of services rendered in connection with this claim and the same shall be unlawful, any contract to the contrary notwithstanding. Any person violating the provisions of this Act shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor and upon conviction thereof shall be fined in any sum not exceeding $1,000. Approved February 19, 1958.

Private Law 85-347 AN ACT For the relief of Colonel Jack C..Jeffrey. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assemhied. That the Secretary of the Treasury is authorized and directed to pay, out of money in the Treasury not otherwise appropriated, to Colonel Jack C. Jeti'rey, of A P O 34o, care postmaster, San Francisco, California, the sum of $485.6'], as a refund of excess costs collected from Colonel Jeffrey on shipments of household effects to Madison, Wisconsin, from overseas and from certain locations in the United States, during April, May and August 1950: Provided, That no part of the amount appropriated in this Act shall be paid or delivered to or received by any agent or attorney on account of services rendered in connection with this claim, and the same shall be unlawful, any contract to the contrary notwithstanding, xlny person violating the provisions of this Act shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor and upon conviction thereof shall be fined in any sum not exceeding $1,000.
