National Family Week. Designation authorization.
Joint Resolution To authorize the President to issue a proclamation designating the week beginning on November 18, 1979, as "National Family Week".
Whereas the family is the basic strength of any free and orderly society; and Whereas it is appropriate to honor the family as a unit essential to the continued well-being of the United States; and Whereas it is fitting that official recognition be given to the importance of family loyalties and ties: Now, therefore, be it Resolved by the Senate and House ofRepresentatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, T^at the President is hereby authorized and requested to issue a proclamation designating the week beginning on November 18, 1979, as "National Familv Week" and inviting the Governors of the several States, the chief officials of local governments, and the people of the United States to observe such day with appropriate ceremonies and activities. Approved November 16, 1979.
