I have made a start at this, but there will be a gap for a couple of weeks until I get back from holiday. I have checked it against the original, but please correct any typos. Apwoolrich 20:02, 22 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Notes on editing the list[edit]

These notes might help any editor following me, and are guidelines for editing my mistakes.

The contributors' entries have a distinct format in the printed version and I have followed it here.

1) The names are always in bold capitals, with the surname first, and academic initials are always separated by a full stop and a space.

2) The code in brackets ending the name line is the code following articles. Some codes have an *. This is to indicate which is which when there are two contributors with identical initials. These codes are in regular face, not bold, each letter being ended with a full stop and a space. Some codes end with 2 letters together eg J. SM. This is correct. In the orginal the second letter is always a small capital. I don't think its significant and have ignored it, but if it is the second letter needs an HTML code to make it smaller, but never a lower case letter, please, as they have to match the codes which go at the ends of the articles.

3) The articles' names are always separated by a semi-colon, never a colon. The words 'in part' are always in italics, but not the brackets surrounding them. Some article names have part of the wording in italics. I have followed the copy in the printed version for coding this.

Typo?[edit]

"WERITT, CRARLES, M.Ao F.C.L, F.G.B., F.R.AJ. (C. E.*). Perhaps CRARLES should be CHARLES; and, given that the group is "E", surely WERITT is wrong? Also, is F.R.AJ. correct? Or should it be F.R.A.J.? I have no access to the original, so I can not check129.94.6.28 16:56, 16 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

What to include in the internal wikilinks?[edit]

  • Should the internal wikilinks to single articles also be on the “(in part)”? (Done e.g. here, not done e.g. here.)
  • Should the internal wikilinks to authors also be on their titles? (Done e.g. here, not done e.g. here.)

For both I'd prefer not to include the “(in part)” or the titles in the wikilinks. What do you think? Thanks for any comments! (When replying, please ping me, thank you!) --Marsupium (talk) 10:39, 24 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@Marsupium: I wouldn't have done the "in part". If their first and last name are there, that is sufficient to link; ignore rank in this, and prenominals; if it is title surname, no first name, then we would link. Try to link the smaller though fullest name components (if that makes sense. — billinghurst sDrewth 10:48, 24 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, that sounds reasonable. Thank you! --Marsupium (talk) 10:51, 24 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
