If an EB1911 footnote spans more than one page and <ref follow="tagname"> ... </ref> can not be used for technical reasons (see Wikisource:WikiProject 1911 Encyclopædia Britannica/Style Manual#Endnotes), then this template can be used as an alternative.

The template takes advantage of the change in name space between "Page:" where the text resides and the article in "main space".

Usage

[edit]

This template takes one unnamed parameter: the text of the footnote on a second page. However if that text includes an "=" it will be necessary to use the following:

{{EB1911 footnote additional part/doc|1=text with an "=" goes here}}

Example:

<ref>This is part one of a footnote {{EB1911 footnote additional part|This is the second part}}</ref>

The text will appear when transluded into main space but will not appear in "Page: space". To complete the action, save the change and then edit the page from which the second part was copied: move the text of the second part down to the bottom of the "Page:" into the "Footer area" and enclose it with template pair {{EB1911 fine print/s}}{{EB1911 fine print/e}}. The text will the appear at the bottom of the page in "Page: space", but will not appear in main space.
