Newport Septem ye 4th: 1787

I have not as yet lost all hopes of getting a Representation to the General Convention timely, that their Report may be made in the name of the thirteen United States, the idea of a Report from twelve States onely appears extreem disagreeable, I shall spare no pains to prevent it—
