On a fast day the stringencies of the place one left and the place one entered are imposed |
שנותנים בתענית חמרי המקום שיצא ושהלך לשם |
574:1[edit]One who goes from a place where they are fasting to a place where they are not fasting with the intent to return must fast all of the fasts that [his previous place] has accepted. |
סעיף א ההולך ממקום שמתענין למקום שאין מתענין ודעתו לחזר, צריך להתענות כל תעניות שקבלו עליהם. |
574:2[edit]One who goes from a place that is not fasting to a place that is fasting should fast with them even if he intends to return. However, because he has not accepted the fast, if he leaves the town and goes past the techum, he is permitted to eat and need not complete the fast. Rem"a. This is the only the case if he arrived on the day of the fast, but if he arrived when it was still day on the day preceding the fast, he must accept the fast and complete it (Tur). |
סעיף ב ההולך ממקום שאין מתענין למקום שמתענים, יתענה עמהם אפלו דעתו לחזר. ומיהו, כיון שלא קבל עליו תענית, אם יצא מן העיר חוץ לתחום, מתר לאכל ואין צריך להשלים. (הג"ה. ודוקא שבא לשם ביום התענית, אבל אם בא לשם מבעוד יום, צריך לקבל עליו התענית וצריך להשלימו (טור). |
574:3[edit]If he mistakenly ate, he should not make it visible to the others that he ate, nor should he permit himself to be decadent, saying ``because I ate a bit, I will eat a lot. (Even not in front of others, it is forbidden for him to be decadent (Mordechai chapter 1 of Taanit)). |
סעיף ג שכח ואכל, אל יתראה בפניהם כאלו אכל, ולא ינהג עדונין בעצמו לומר הואיל ואכלתי מעט אכל הרבה (ואפלו שלא בפניהם אסור לנהג עדונין בעצמו (מרדכי פרק קמא דתענית)). |
574:4[edit]It is a mitzvah to starve oneself during a period of famine, and it is forbidden to have sex besides for the night of immersion, though those deprived children (meaning, those without children), are permitted (and see 240:12). |
סעיף ד מצוה להרעיב אדם עצמו בשנת רעבון, ואסור לשמש בו מטתו חוץ מליל טבילה. ולחשוכי בנים (פרוש, ולמנועי בנים) מתר (ועין לעיל סימן ר"מ סעיף י"ב). |
574:5[edit]All who separate from the community will not see their consolation, and all who mourn with them will see their consolation. |
סעיף ה כל הפורש מן הצבור אינו רואה בנחמתן, וכל המצטער עמהם זוכה ורואה בנחמתן. |
