That one should not say supplicatory prayers on the 14th and 15th of the first Adar and the law regarding fasting and eulogizing on these days |
אין אומרים תחנה בי"ד וט"ו שבאדר ראשון ודין תענית והספד בהן |
697:1[edit]On the 14th and 15th of the first Adar we don't say Tachanun or the psalm "May God answer you on the day of distress" [Psalms 20]. It is forbidden to eulogize and fast. The other practices [of Purim] are not observed on these days, and some say that even eulogizing and fasting is permitted. Rem"a: The practice is like the first opinion. Some say that it is obligatory to increase partying and happiness on the 14th of first Adar (Tur in the name of the Ri"f), and this is not our practice. In any event, one should feast a bit to fulfill the obligation according to these stringent opinions (Hagahot Maimoni in the name of the Sema"k), and contentment is a neverending party [Proverbs 15:15]. |
סעיף א יום י"ד וט"ו שבאדר ראשון אין נופלין על פניהם ואין אומרים מזמור יענך ה' ביום צרה ואסורים בהספד ותענית אבל שאר דברים אין נוהגים בהם וי"א דאף בהספד ותענית מותרים: הגה והמנהג כסברא ראשונה. י"א שחייב להרבות במשתה ושמחה בי"ד שבאדר ראשון (טור בשם הרי"ף) ואין נוהגין כן מ"מ ירבה קצת בסעודה כדי לצאת ידי המחמירים (הג"מ בשם סמ"ק) וטוב לב משתה תמיד: |
